TechZones...The Hot Side of Cool

International CES attendees in Las Vegas can get an exclusive view of some of the hottest technologies and trends, including Bluetooth, portable audio, robotics, VoIP, Ultrawideband and USB at 20 TechZones spread throughout the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) and Innovations Plus at the Sands. International CES TechZones bring together products from a variety of exhibitors to spotlight emerging trends and the latest technologies.



TechZones Sizzle at the Sands

More than 12 TechZones will be in the all-new Innovations Plus at the Sands, turning the Sands show floor into the largest concentration of TechZones at the 2006 International CES. Innovations Plus also features the Innovations 2006 Design and Engineering Award honorees, more than 500 emerging technology exhibitors, 150 International Gateway exhibitors, 75 conference sessions, the CES Industry Insider series and an expanded CES Unveiled: The Official Press Event of CES.

Karen Chupka, vice president of events and conferences for CEA, producer of CES, said, “TechZones provide a great way for our attendees to see the next wave of the latest and greatest all within one area. By showcasing the TechZones along with the popular Innovations honoree displays, Innovations Plus at the Sands is poised to be a ‘must attend’ venue for experiencing some of the world’s premiere products and technologies.” A sample of the TechZones includes:

  • Automotive Aftermarket — Mobile electronics and aftermarket automotive accessories are being marketed, distributed and sold through similar channels. See the latest products in the automotive aftermarket industry all in one place.
  • Bluetooth — We all want low-cost, low-power wireless personal connectivity—at our fingertips. To see the newest developments in short-range wireless technologies and interoperability, make your way to the Bluetooth TechZone at Innovations Plus at the Sands.
  • Blu-ray — Sponsored by the Blu-ray Disc Association, the Blu-ray TechZone showcases the latest Blu-ray Disc hardware and content meeting today’s need for high-definition recording and storage.
  • Cardio Play Zone — Fitness today means high-intensity fitness products. These TechZone devices count calories burned, help increase/decrease intensity levels, feature videos or play music to help you maximize a cardio workout.
  • Connected Home Entertainment — Learn more about the benefits of whole-house audio and video. Demo new multi-room networked entertainment, including audio, structured wiring, whole-house video, no-new-wires and wireless products.
  • Consumer VoIP — With IP-enabled devices shifting from telecom service to information service, Pulvermedia is showcasing the next-generation of IP-enabled devices and the new service providers for them.
  • Digital Car/Telematics — Test the products that make travel easier and more enjoyable, including digital car products.
  • Digital Living Network Alliance — The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) works to improve the digital home by providing consumers with seamless interoperability between devices over the network, regardless of vendor, resulting in an easy, out-of-the-box experience using any device.
  • EE Times Presents The Great Minds, Great Ideas Zone — Celebrate and examine electronics industry innovators who envision the revolutionary ideas that lead to new capabilities and new markets.
  • IPTV — Internet Protocol Television is ready to take off. See the newest developments in Voice-over-Internet Protocol and integrated technologies at the IPTV TechZone.
  • Launch — At CES, there’s a new home for emerging technologies, companies and products: the Launch TechZone.
  • Portable Audio — Catch this showcase of digital music players and accessories, plus streaming audio technology.
  • Portable Power — The CE industry requires new power sources for portable computers, communications and entertainment devices to keep devices powered and on the go. The Portable Power TechZone demonstrates the synergy between the products, batteries, chargers and power management systems that keep the batteries charged.
  • Robotics — Personal, service and mobile robotics are new technology markets, and will have a major impact on the way we live. The potential for product and service providers serving these markets is promising.
  • SD Card Association — Meet companies that design, develop, manufacture or sell products that utilize the SD specifications, including digital files, SD-enabled products and products compatible with SD memory cards.

  • TechHome — For the newest advances in tomorrow’s smart home, visit the TechHome TechZone. Check out products at the core of the networked home that increase efficiency, conserve energy and make consumers’ home lives easier.
  • USB — Check out the USB TechZone, dedicated to products using the USB standard that makes “plug-and-play” a reality. The impact of USB connectivity on small office/home office, our PCs, printers, scanners, PDAs and digital cameras is huge.
  • WiMedia Ultrawideband —WiMedia’s UWB solution delivers high-speed, high-data-rate transfers with low-power consumption in a wireless personal area. Visit the WiMedia Ultra-wideband (UWB) TechZone to learn about WiMedia’s UWB common radio platform, supporting Certified Wireless USB, Wireless 1394 and wireless TCP/IP technologies. Applications based on WiMedia’s UWB technology will be on display.
  • ZigBee Alliance — See the latest applications in wireless networking at the ZigBee Alliance TechZone. ZigBee technology is a wireless platform intended for a wide range of products and applications across consumer, commercial, industrial and government markets worldwide.
