Pat Lavelle is president and CEO of Audiovox Electronics Corp., a subsidiary of Audiovox Corp. In addition, he is senior vice president of Audiovox Corp. and a member of the board of directors.
Lavelle joined Audiovox in 1977 as an audio salesman and held numerous sales management positions before being appointed vice president of accessory products in 1980. Under Lavelle’s direction, Audiovox began to diversify and entered the mobile electronics category and quickly became a dominant manufacturer of automotive security, cruise controls and mobile accessories. In 1992, Audiovox’s car audio division was consolidated under Lavelle and the basis of the present electronics company was formed. Since then, the electronics group expanded into consumer products and today markets a broad line of home and portable audio, video and DVD products and FRS GMRS family radios.
In 1997, the electronics group developed their first LCD flat panel rear seat entertainment system designed for vehicles and has led the way in establishing a new category of mobile electronic products. Audiovox is the market leader in rear seat entertainment with a 40 percent market share. In 2000, the electronics group was officially established as Audiovox Electronics Corp.
A veteran of the consumer electronics industry, Lavelle is very active in CEA and is currently the vice chair of the Mobile Electronics Board and member of the CEA Board of Industry Leaders.
Lavelle is a graduate of Marist College, NY. He and his wife Patty have three children, Michael, Meghan and Katie. In his spare time, Lavelle enjoys boating, skiing, golf and is actively involved with the Long Island Special Olympics.
