Director of Research

The Consumer Electronics Association has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Research to oversee CEA's consumer and strategic B2B survey research program.

Critical Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee all facets of the consumer research and strategic B2B survey research program.
• Serve as the research department’s chief methodologist, providing guidance in selecting methodologies and testing new methodologies. This includes providing expertise as it pertains to data weighting, advanced statistical analysis, and other data analysis.
• Lead, develop and direct departmental staff by planning, recruiting, communicating job expectations, coaching and training.
• Maintain a strategic understanding of technology products and trends.
• Present research findings at CEA conferences and other outside events. This includes presenting research findings via webcast on a regular basis.
• Communicate research findings to press as needed.
• Provide project management and report writing overflow capacity to ensure the delivery of 25 – 30 consumer research reports per year and up to 75 internal strategic surveys.
• Participate in internal strategic decision-making through the use of consumer and B2B surveys to ensure that CEA makes smart business decisions.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; benchmarking state-of-the art practices; participating in professional societies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience:
Eight+ years experience working in market research in a variety of positions including data processing, analysis, project management and consulting.

Education/Training:
Four-year college degree in related field (social sciences, statistics, business etc.), with regular, continuing education in progressively advanced qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Advanced degree preferred.

Skills/Capabilities/Technical:
• Research, survey methodology, and statistics expertise. Focus group moderator a plus.
• Able to effectively motivate and develop direct reports
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
• Strong project management/organizational skills
• Ability to think creatively and analytically
