As telecommunications providers begin to launch video services for consumers nationwide, AT&T, BellSouth, Verizon and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) today announced a series of principles designed to ensure the commercial availability of devices that attach to Internet Protocol (IP)-enabled video networks. CEA Announces Guiding Priciples For Telecommunication Policy Reform
With Congress expected to revisit the landmark Telecommunications Act of 1996 in coming months, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) today announced guiding principles for telecommunications policy reform. Recognizing that the rapid advancement of new digital technologies and services has outpaced current regulations established under the '96 Telecom Act, CEA's principles are designed to guide policymakers as they establish a new communications policy framework that recognizes the numerous developments that have occurred over the past nine years and attempts to create a legal and regulatory environment to facilitate additional advancements.
