In-Vehicle Electronics, Driver Focus and Right to Repair

CEA believes three courses of action should be taken to address in-vehicle electronics and driver focus: continued research; continued public education campaigns that treat driver distraction comprehensively; and enforcement of existing laws concerning negligent and reckless driving.

On April 22, 2009, Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY) introduced the Motor Vehicle Owners Right to Repair Act of 2009 (H.R. 2057), which would ensure that small and independent installers have the bare minimum information needed to install products and compete in the marketplace.
