CALL to PROTECT

Donate Your Used Wireless Phone Today to Help Victims of Domestic Violence
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) proudly supports the Wireless Foundation's national CALL to PROTECT program, established in 1996 to provide emergency wireless phones with airtime and financial support to aid the campaign to end domestic violence.

To date, nearly two million used wireless phones have been collected to benefit CALL to PROTECT, enabling the donation of more than 36,000 wireless phones with airtime and more than $3,000,000 in grants to organizations leading the campaign to end domestic violence. And in the process, over 200 tons of material have been collected for reuse and recycling.

You can help end family violence, get rid of clutter in your house and help the environment all at the same time by donating your wireless phone here.

Donating is easy:
  • All makes and models are accepted and your phone need not be in working condition.
  • Please discontinue your wireless service prior to donating your phone.
  • You can include any phone accessories such as chargers, adapters, etc.
  • For a donation acknowledgement for tax purposes, log on to http://www.calltoprotect.org/.

About The Wireless Foundation:
In 1991, the membership of the CTIA formed The Wireless Foundation to serve as the charitable and philanthropic arm of the industry. In partnership with wireless carriers, manufacturers and suppliers, the Wireless Foundation develops and oversees charitable programs that apply wireless technology to help American communities.

Initially, the Wireless Foundation programs matched wireless phones donated by manufacturers with airtime donated by carriers, using donated logistics services to facilitate provisioning and delivery of phones to various community groups. ClassLink® provided phones for public schools and Communities on Phone Patrol (COPP) provided phones to community watch groups. The Wireless Foundation also identifies responsible use of wireless phones in emergency situations through its VITA program. Most recently, the Wireless Foundation and industry partners have been working to provide blood donor notifications and AMBER Alerts via SMS text messaging.

The Wireless Foundation is a separate corporate entity from CTIA. The Wireless Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and maintains registration with the attorneys general of approximately 40 states that require registration of charities that solicit donations from consumers. Its CALL to PROTECT Donate a Phone program is an environmentally responsible charitable program to aid victims of domestic violence.
