President Obama yesterday announced new efforts to curb the scourge of patent assertion entities (commonly called patent trolls) on U.S. businesses. Gary Shapiro, CEA's president and CEO, applauded President Obama for his actions.

As part of the president's announcement, the White House released a report [PDF] with some pretty scary findings:

During the last two years, lawsuits brought by patent trolls have risen from more than 29 percent of all infringement suits... to 62 percent, potentially threatening more than 100,000 companies in the last year alone.

Help us fight patent trolls. Find out more about the issue. Then contact Congress by texting "TROLLS" to 52886, or visiting this link to reach out via the Web.
