President Obama yesterday announced new efforts to curb the scourge of patent assertion entities (commonly called patent trolls) on U.S. businesses. Gary Shapiro, CEA's president and CEO, applauded President Obama for his actions.
As part of the president's announcement, the White House released a report [PDF] with some pretty scary findings:
During the last two years, lawsuits brought by patent trolls have risen from more than 29 percent of all infringement suits...

Yesterday marked Paul Otellini's last day at Intel, where he worked for 40 years and served as CEO for the last eight. He leaves a company that generated $66 billion in profit during his leadership and more revenue than it had ever before.
