Human Interface Product of the Year

This award recognizes the best new and/or improved human interface product. Products entered in this category may include, but are not limited to, keypads, touch panels, or handheld remotes. The winning product embodies state-of-the-art ergonomics coupled with cutting-edge technology to make the human interface intuitive, functional and user friendly.
 
Home Technology App of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved home technology app. Apps will be judged based on their interface, functionality, capability and end -user experience. Apps must run on a popular, portable, operating system such as iOS or Android. The winning app will provide a cutting-edge end-user experience that enhances the sub system(s) in the home.
 
Speaker of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved speaker, including, but not limited to freestanding, in-ceiling, in-wall, soundbar, wired, wireless, outdoor, and subwoofers, designed for use in a home entertainment or distributed audio/video system. The winning speaker should have an aesthetically-pleasing design, smart installation features, and display exceptional innovation and/or sound quality.
 
Audio Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved residential audio product that originates, amplifies, switches, reproduces, and/or decodes audio content. Entries may include analog or digital devices and could include audio receivers, amplifiers, processors, sources, and other audio specific products.
 
Multi-Room Audio/Video Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved product in the distributed multi-room/multi-zone/multi-source audio and/or video content category. Entries may include switches, wireless, or hard-wired multi-room distribution products. The winning product embodies performance and ease of use.
 
Media Management Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved media management product. The winning product will effectively manage digital audio and/or video content within the home. Entries may store content locally or stream from local or cloud servers. Media management may be a subset of the product’s overall capabilities such as Web enabled TV, digital video recorders, and home theater receivers. The winning entry will provide a state-of-the-art end-user experience for accessing and playing digital content. 
 
Video Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved residential product that originates, switches, amplifies, reproduces, and/or decodes video content. Entries may include analog or digital devices and may consist of processors, sources, STBs, and other video-specific products.
 
Video Display Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved residential product that displays video content. Entries may include flat panel, projectors, screens, and other video display specific products.
 
Rack or Mount Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved rack or mount used to install products typical of a new or existing audio/video or home automation system. The winning product will demonstrate efficient installation, aesthetic enhancements and enhanced user interface.
 
Residential Security Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved non-surveillance residential security product. Entries in this category may include wired, wireless, digital, and/or analog-based products designed to secure, or enhance the security of, residential properties. The winning product will demonstrate integration features with other sub-systems including ease of use, energy management and security enhancements which ensure peace of mind for the homeowner.
 
Structured Wiring Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved structured wiring solution. Entries may include products that support multiple communication platforms as related to the cabling and infrastructure within today's digital home. The winner of this category will enhance twisted-pair, fiber optic, IP, communications, and/or the distribution of audio/video voice data content.
 
Wireless Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved wireless IP/computer networking  product. The winning product provides a wired and wireless solution for networking PCs, handheld devices, home control, or media distribution.
 
Wireless/Networking Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved IP wireless computer networking product that provides solutions for networking PCs, handheld devices, security systems or media distribution.
 
Energy Efficiency Product of the Year
This award recognizes a residential product that focuses on sustainability and improving the environment. Submitted products should be environmentally friendly and empower a homeowner to reduce energy consumption, emissions and/or natural resources. Eligible products include engineering designs with exceptionally low current draw, as well as devices that monitor, log, or control energy consumption.
 
Lighting Control Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved residential lighting control product or system. The winning solution will provide tangible benefits to the homeowner, including ease of use, convenience, integration capabilities and energy savings. Entries may include distributed wireless products, hard-wired or wireless lighting control products or systems, scene control devices, unique control designs, controlling techniques, and/or a manufacturer's communication protocol.
 
Automation Device of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved automation device for the home. Entries in this category provide stand alone or integrated automation enhancements and protection to the home. Examples include communicating door locks, flood protection, vehicle detection, communicating thermostats and other specialty automation devices. The winning product embodies state-of-the-art ergonomics coupled with cutting-edge technology to make the human interface intuitive and functional.
 
Motorized Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved residential motorized product. Entries for this category may include interior or exterior automated window treatments, media concealment devices such as art screens and mirrors, as well as wall or ceiling-mounted video display arms, lifts or swivels, including floor or cabinet solutions. The winning product will combine aesthetics and an enhanced user experience with precise functionality and guaranteed long-term operation.
 
Control Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved integrated home control product. Products must interface with a variety of IP, wireless, proprietary and/or open communication standards. The winning product combines seamless integration with numerous residential subsystems providing a homeowner with complete home control.
 
Installation Product of the Year
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved hardware and/or software tool used to install and/or service products typical of a new or existing home technology system. Entries may include, but are not limited to hand tools, design software, programming software, cable-marking systems, signal test equipment, and/or diagnostic tools. The winning product will demonstrate originality, ease of use, time saving capability, and/or broad market application.
 
Best Education or Support Program
This award recognizes the best new and/or improved education or support program. Programs can be live, online, in print, or any other media. Entries are evaluated based on the direct benefit to the professional installer. Entries are expected to cover common training and support opportunities including, but not limited to, revenue opportunities, sales/marketing, professionalism, product knowledge, industry standards, best business practices, and adherence to national, state and local installation code.

This award recognizes the best residential lighting control and/or automated shade/drapery project. The winning solution provided tangible benefits to the homeowner, including ease of use, convenience, integration capabilities and energy savings. Projects may include the use of distributed wireless products, hard-wired or wireless lighting control products or systems, automated shading/drapery systems, scene control devices and unique controlling techniques.
 
Multi-Room Audio/Video Project of the Year
This award recognizes the best multi-room audio, integrated A/V and/or networked media application throughout the home. The entry should highlight equipment and sources, as well as the user interfaces installed to access A/V content throughout the home.


Home Theater/Media Room Project of the Year up to $50,000
This award recognizes the best designed and installed dedicated entertainment system, including video display, surround sound, multiple sources and control. The winning entry should demonstrate ease of use, integration with the room's environmental systems (lighting, window coverings and temperature) and/or other house systems (security, cameras, access control, distributed audio/video, etc.).
 
Home Theater/Media Room Project of the Year above $50,000
This award recognizes the best designed and installed dedicated entertainment system, including video display, surround sound, multiple sources and control. The winning entry should demonstrate ease of use, integration with the room's environmental systems (lighting, window coverings and temperature) and/or other house systems (security, cameras, access control, distributed audio/video, etc.).

Integrated Security Project of the Year
This award recognizes the finest integrated security system, including security controllers, sensors, cameras and access devices. The winning entry should demonstrate how technology was used for fire and intrusion protection, property monitoring, door entry control and/or emergency detection such as water leakage, as well as integration with other home technologies, including lighting, HVAC controls, distributed video and/or home automation.

Sustainable Project of the Year 
This award recognizes a residential project utilizing technology that best demonstrates the management, integration or conservation of energy or other natural resources. The project demonstrates how the technology reduces consumption, reduces negative environmental impact, provides actionable data to the user, or otherwise simplifies and promotes energy or natural resource conservation.  Projects may include, but are not limited to, solutions that address climate control, lighting control, shade control, LED lighting, pool, domestic water or irrigation management, solar or wind generated energy, unique scheduling or control solutions or demonstrates how technology encourages or promotes a savings or other benefit to the user.

Health and Wellness Project of the Year
This award acknowledges a home that best utilizes technology to facilitate health and/or special needs of customers. The winning entry epitomizes Universal Design by fulfilling specific current or future needs of the homeowner such as Aging in Place, an adaptable living environment, simple and flexible user interface solutions, communication of critical user information, low(or high) demand for physical effort and a high tolerance for the users capabilities. This project may also highlight technology solutions that anticipate evolving needs of the homeowner as the user's abilities, needs and desires change over time.
 
Retrofit Project of the Year up to $50,000
This award recognizes the ingenuity of an integration project where a new system has been installed into an existing residential structure, where the home or section of the home is not under construction. The entry must demonstrate how an existing home was upgraded with new technology. The entry should include the hardware used, the wiring or wireless approach, the installation methodology, customer requirements, ease of use and how the most difficult install challenges were overcome. Creativity and expertise should demonstrate your retrofit prowess.

Retrofit Project of the Year above $50,000
This award recognizes the ingenuity of an integration project where a new system has been installed into an existing residential structure, where the home or section of the home is not under construction. The entry must demonstrate how an existing home was upgraded with new technology. The entry should include the hardware used, the wiring or wireless approach, the installation methodology, customer requirements, ease of use and how the most difficult install challenges were overcome. Creativity and expertise should demonstrate your retrofit prowess.

Home of the Year up to $50,000 
This award recognizes an installation firm that delivered an integrated system with an installed, maximum, end-user price of $50,000. The entry must show how the product selection, hardware, and system programming solved problems, improved lifestyle and/or delivered a user-friendly experience in either a new construction or retrofit project. 

Custom Home of the Year between $50,000 - $150,000
This award recognizes an installation firm that delivered an integrated system with an installed, end-user price between $50,000 and $150,000. The entry must show how the product selection, hardware, and system programming solved problems, improved lifestyle and/or delivered a user-friendly experience in either a new construction or retrofit project. 
 
Luxury Home of the Year between $150,000- $300,000
This award recognizes an installation firm that delivered an integrated system with an installed, end-user price between $150,000 and $300,000. The entry must show how the product selection, hardware, and system programming solved problems, improved lifestyle and/or delivered a user-friendly experience in either a new construction or retrofit project.
 
Ultimate Home of the Year above $300,000
This award recognizes an installation firm that delivered an integrated system with an installed, maximum, end-user price of more than $300,000. The entry must show how the product selection, hardware, and system programming solved problems, improved lifestyle and/or delivered a user-friendly experience in either a new construction or retrofit project.


Specialty Project of the Year
This award recognizes an integrator's technical expertise as applied to delivering the best integrated system for a multi-disciplined design and installation within a vehicle, multi-family, commercial, hospitality, house of worship and/or healthcare environment. The entry should include the hardware used, the wiring or wireless approach, the installation methodology, customer requirements, ease of use and how the most difficult install challenges were overcome.
 
Innovation Award 
This award recognizes an integrator’s creativity and innovative use of technology to achieve a specific application. The winning entry will provide a solution that best demonstrates a unique application of technology for an unusual challenge.
