Each TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards category has a four-member judging team comprised of systems integrators, manufacturers, members of the trade press or industry consultants. Each entry is given a numeric score. The top scoring entries in each category will be named TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards finalists. Each of the Mark of Excellence categories have both a platinum winner and a gold winner. In order to receive a platinum or gold award the entry must obtain an exceptionally high score from the judges. If there are not two entries within a category that meet the judge's standards the category may only have a platinum winner.
