Jack Wayman

Jack Wayman has devoted his 50-year business life to consumer electronics, at retail, wholesale and trade association levels. For the last 35 years, he has been associated with the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) representing the manufacturers of consumer electronics products.

As EIA's senior vice president, Wayman was at the forefront of federal and state legislation concerning consumer electronics, including the highly publicized Sony/Betamax case. He served as Chairman of the Home Rights Coalition and was successful in having this case reviewed by the Supreme Court with a decision against the motion picture industry's attempt to thwart the electronic industry's marketing of the video cassette recorder.

He conceived and developed the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas, which now is the largest consumer technology tradeshow in the world.

In the last ten years, as the consumer electronics industry's media spokesperson, Wayman has appeared on diverse national and local radio and television programs as well as numerous newspaper interviews.

Wayman has received virtually every award in the electronics industry. While too numerous to mention all of his honors, they include EIA's Distinguished Service Medal; Inductee: Electronic Industries Hall of Fame; "Man of the Year" by the National Association of Retail Dealers, Twice Magazine and Consumer Electronics Magazine; Man of the Decade by Audio/Video Magazine; Video Hall of Fame and a fellow of the Radio Club of America. A graduate of Davidson College and the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, he was a decorated infantry officer in World War II, serving in Europe.
