INDEPENDENT AUDIT CONFIRMS RECORD INTERNATIONAL ATTENDANCE AT THE 2011 INTERNATIONAL CES

The International CES® today announced that 31,677 industry professionals from outside the U.S. attended the 2011 International CES January 6-9, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Up 30 percent from last year, international attendance at the 2011 CES set a new record for the show’s 45 year history.  An independent audit, performed by Veris Consulting LLC, confirms CES’ status as the world’s largest consumer technology tradeshow and North America’s largest annual tradeshow of any kind. Overall, the 2011 International CES welcomed 149,529 technology attendees during its four day run. Full Release

CEA APPLAUDS NEW TRANSPARENT TV ENERGY LABELS

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today hailed a new era in power consumption transparency for consumers: new Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requirements call for removable, detailed yellow-and-black labels that disclose the product’s estimated annual energy cost to be attached to all TVs manufactured after May 10th. CEA'S INNOVATION MOVEMENT URGES AMERICANS TO TAKE ACTION TO END THE SPECTRUM CRUNCH

On March 16, 2010, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) unveiled a bold plan to address the nation’s shortage of wireless broadband capability by repurposing unused broadcast spectrum, but intense lobbying by broadcast television stations has stalled progress on this vital program. Today, the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA)® Innovation Movement launches the Spectrum Crunch Clock to help Americans visualize the economic costs of delay in spectrum reform. CEA’s Innovation Movement – over 100,000 engaged citizens who believe innovation is critical to American global leadership and economic growth – urges consumers to take action and write their Members of Congress in support of the need for more spectrum for new and innovative wireless broadband services.  Full Release
