Systems for security, home entertainment and home automation and control are becoming more common on the must-have checklist for new home buyers. Installed infrastructure like high-speed wiring, and the adoption of broadband enable the growth of whole-home networks for digital media as well as data.

TechHome Division members help consumers make good decisions as they select their systems. TechHome integrators design and professionally install the whole-home networks that are becoming standard in today's digital home. The TechHome Division is unique in that it represents the entire channel for home control, entertainment and networking products including integrators, distributors and manufacturers.

In addition, members can learn more about some of the many quality retailer/integrator industry certification programs. Information is provided as a resource only and should not be seen as an endorsement of any program.

Focal Points:

CEA's TechHome Division seeks to increase the sales and support of professionally installed home technology products.

  • Increase awareness of professionally installed home technology products within the consumer community through consumer education.
  • Builder Initiative: increase builder outreach and awareness (including other related audiences, such as realtors, appraisers, designers and architects) of professionally installed home technology products.
  • State/Federal Legislation: Work with state and federal policymakers on energy efficiency issues related to home technology products and installation.
  • Add value to CEA's TechHome Division membership through enhanced member benefits.

Key Initiatives:

  • Builder Outreach: Facilitate business relationships between the builder industry and CEA members by creating new growth opportunities in the home builder market for CE products and installation services.
  • Energy Efficiency: Increase the awareness of energy efficient systems and installations CEA's retailer/integrator members are capable of designing and installing as well as help members market themselves as energy efficient.
  • Technology & Standards: Actively participate on the R10 standards committee - a committee comprised of CEA and CEDIA members who strive to establish bulletins and standards for design and installation of residential systems.
  • Promote the TechHome Rating System: Help homeowners, builders, realtors and integrators evaluate the technological sophistication of a home and build value for installed technology using CEA's TechHome Rating System.
  • Industry Awards and Recognition: Continue to grow and enhance the annual Mark of Excellence Awards program and banquet to showcase the best in the installed technology industry. 
  • Support ESPA: Promote the Electronics Systems Professional Alliance (ESPA) entry-level training and Certified-Electronic Systems Professional (Certified-EST) certification program to increase the number of qualified workers entering the installed technology workplace.
