Set-Top Box Energy Conservation Agreement
CEA and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) have launched an unprecedented Set-Top Box Energy Conservation Agreement with 15 service providers and device manufacturers. New Energy Calculator
CEA has launched a new, interactive consumer electronics (CE) energy calculator on GreenerGadgets.org, CEA’s website for living and buying green and recycling responsibly. The new CE Energy Calculator estimates the amount of energy your electronics are using in your home based on the products you own and the amount of time they are used each day, and compares your energy use to the average U.S. household. New Research: Health and Fitness Technology
According to the recent study: Getting Connected with Emerging Fitness Technologies, more than half (55 percent) of U.S. online consumers used a fitness technology in the past year, and more than one-third (37 percent) anticipate purchasing a fitness technology in the next 12 months. CEA and AARP Partner to Explore Tech Purchasing Patterns Among Americans 50-plus
Americans ages 50 and over tend to spend proportionally more on entertainment than younger age groups. CEA’s AARP-sponsored 2012 study, The Evolving Video Landscape explores older Americans and video entertainment device preferences, spending power, and the ways retailers should appeal to this sizable segment. Black Friday Recap
CEA conducted pre-Black Friday and post-Black Friday surveys examining consumer expectations. The post-Black Friday report, release the Saturday after Thanksgiving, found that nearly 70 million U.S. adults went shopping on Black Friday, and estimated more than 120 million U.S. shopped over the course of the entire Thanksgiving weekend. Consumer electronics once again were second only to clothes as the most popular items purchased this weekend.

CEA Home Networking Standards Maintenance Review
The R7 Home Network Committee is seeking participants to help in the review and maintenance of ANSI/CEA-709.3, which defines the free-topology twisted pair channel. All are encouraged to join. The Home Network Committee is particularly interested in adding new members who manufacturer or implement home networking products or services (producers), and in adding new members (users) who acquire home networking products from those who create them.
