New Research: Digital Imaging – Photo Sharing and Printing

According to CEA’s study, Digital Imaging – Photo Sharing and Printing, a gap exists between device usage and satisfaction in terms of printing and editing.The study found photographers across the U.S. still enjoy the permanence that print photographs offer, providing an opportunity for consumer adoption (or re-adoption) of point-and-shoot or digital single lens reflex (DSLR) cameras with multi-purpose options. New Membership Category: Startups

CEA has launched a new membership category exclusively for startups. The special focus on startups is consistent with CEA’s commitment to fostering innovation as a national strategy and as part of its mission. CEA’s startup category will offer regular membership at a reduced rate of $95 per year. To qualify for this membership, companies must be in development of a technology product, service or app that has been introduced into the market within the last year or will be within the next year; have annual sales under $1 million; be located in North America; and not have been a CEA member within the past two years. CEA Launching Standards Effort for Mobile Handset Compatibility

CEA’s Portable, Handheld and In-Vehicle Electronics Committee is beginning a project aimed at ensuring microphone, control signal and antenna compatibility for wired headphones across multiple devices. The new standard, CEA-2046, will describe a method of in-line headphone control signaling to operate features such as volume adjust, play, pause, select music track and voice call features. CEA Revising Mobile Electronics Cabling and Mobile Amplifier Standards

CEA’s Portable, Handheld and In-Vehicle Electronics Committee is also beginning work on revisions to ANSI/CEA-2015, Mobile Electronics Cabling Standard, and ANSI/CEA-2006-B, Testing & Measurement Methods for Mobile Audio Amplifiers. The first standard defines the size, conductor resistivity and strand count requirements for CEA wire gauges. The second defines characteristics that describe the performance of mobile power amplifiers for consumers. It is the basis for the CEA-2006 product mark program. CES on the Hill brings together members of Congress, their staff and the Washington press to mingle with executives from the CE industry and interact with companies producing innovative technologies. The evening following CES on the Hill, CEA will host its annual Digital Patriots Dinner honoring government officials and technology leaders for their positive influence on technology and the industry. CES Adds DISH’s Hopper with Sling as “Best of Show” for 2013 “Best of CES” Awards

The International CES has added DISH’s Hopper™ with Sling® Whole-Home HD DVR as a co-winner of “Best of Show” under the “Best of CES” awards program, produced in partnership with CNET, for the 2013 International CES. DISH’s Hopper with Sling joins the Razer Edge gaming tablet. CNET editors had originally selected the Hopper with Sling as Best of Show before CNET’s corporate parent CBS Corp. forced them to remove the Hopper from consideration due to ongoing litigation between CBS Corp. and DISH over specific features of the Hopper.
