CEA, CEDIA, InfoComm Release Joint Architectural Drawing Symbols Standard

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association’s (CEDIA) R10 Residential Systems committee and InfoComm Internationalannounced yesterday the publication of ANSI Standard J-STD-710 Audio, Video and Control Architectural Drawing Symbols. This new standard defines a common set of blueprint icons that represents all facets of pre-wire and installation of electronic systems, products and devices in residential and commercial environments.  “This is a milestone for the industry, since there has been a huge void in symbols representations for the low-voltage industry,” said Walt Zerbe, product manager, audio, OnQ Legrand and NuVo; and Chairman of CEA’s R10 Residential Systems Committee. CEA to University Presidents: Protect Our Innovators, Support Patent Reform

Today, the presidents and chairmen of the boards of 145 universities that oppose the Innovation Act (H.R.9) received letters from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® urging them to reverse their resistance to the bill and remove their institution’s name from a February 24 opposition letter. The bill is fair, common-sense legislation that would curb abusive patent litigation by patent trolls, while protecting inventors, innovative companies, research institutions and licensors such as universities.

CEA and YMI Offer Free Ecycling Materials for Teachers in English and Spanish

In advance of Earth Day on April 22, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® is partnering with Young Minds Inspired to offer free educational materials about electronics recycling to teachers, including the first-ever Spanish-language edition. The lesson plan teaches students in grades 4-6 how “ecycling” — recycling old electronics — can help reduce the environmental impact of their technology choices and promote a more sustainable future.
