CEA Commends D.C.City Council on Pro-Consumer, Pro-Ridesharing Vote
The following statement can be attributed to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, regarding the D.C. City Council’s passage of a ridesharing legalization bill on Tuesday: "The D.C. Council's unanimous decision is a great step forward and a true confirmation of the value of innovative technologies like Lyft and Uber. We appreciate the Council's efforts in ensuring consumers continue to have access to safe and reliable transportation options, and look forward to the bill becoming law later this month."

CEA Hosts First-Ever Trilateral Energy Efficiency Roundtable on Consumer Electronics
Prominent government officials and consumer electronics (CE) industry representatives from Canada, Mexico and the United States held the first-ever Trilateral Energy Efficiency Roundtable Monday afternoon at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®. The meeting focused on energy-efficiency policy alignment opportunities and challenges particular to the CE industry.

Holiday Season Tech Spending to Reach Record Levels, According to CEA’s 21st Annual Holiday Forecast
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® predicts the 2014 holiday season will see the highest levels of consumer spending on consumer electronics (CE) since CEA began tracking holiday spending in 1994. According to CEA’s holiday outlook released today, total tech spending during the holidays will increase 2.5 percent (up from 0.9 percent growth in 2013) to reach a record $33.76 billion during the 2014 holiday season. Reza Raji, an entrepreneur at the forefront of connecting devices and people, and olloclip, a company leading innovation in mobile photography, were named winners of the third annual Innovation Entrepreneur Awards (IEA) by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)Æ. CEA Disappointed by Governor Brown's Veto of Bill Improving California’s Energy Efficiency Rulemaking Process
On Friday, Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed California Assembly Bill 2581, which would have improved the process by which the California Energy Commission (CEC) considers energy efficiency requirements for electronics and other products and equipment. The bill, advocated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and other high tech trade associations, companies and organizations, would have required the CEC to consider the most current data provided to it prior to a rulemaking, among other provisions.
