Arlington, VA – 03/16/2012 – As the implementation of the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (KORUS) goes into force this month, the following statement is attributable to Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®:
“One of the 2011 successes for America was the enactment of the free trade agreement with Korea. Effective this month, it opens markets and enables innovation not only for the consumer electronics industry but for all American businesses.
“Today we thank the U.S. Trade Representative, the Congress and President Obama for their efforts in making this a reality. We also call on them to make this a precedent. We want to see more doors open to more markets, in recognition of the fact that 95 percent of the world’s consumers live outside of the United States.”
