CEA Commends USTR for Recognizing Fair Use as Key Building Block of Innovation
Arlington, VA – 07/05/2012 – The following statement can be attributed to Sage Chandler, senior director, international trade, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) ®, regarding the recent announcement from the United States Trade Representative (USTR) on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) talks:
“CEA commends the USTR for recognizing that fair use is a key building block of innovation and must be protected in international trade agreements. The introduction of copyright exemptions and limitations into the TPP is a balanced approach that will help define the ability to create and share information in a digital era. We look forward to working with USTR to protect intellectual property while opening new markets to American exporters.”
