CEA Statement on the Resignation of EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson
Arlington, VA – 12/28/2012 – The following statement is attributable to Michael Petricone, senior vice president, government and regulatory affairs, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, following the announcement that U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa Jackson will step down early next year:
“CEA commends Administrator Jackson’s public service and commitment to the environment as head of the EPA, an important institution for our nation.
“Administrator Jackson’s accomplishments include her leadership in helping to create the National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship. This strategy includes important inter-agency recommendations that ensure the federal government leads by example in acquiring, managing, reusing and recycling its electronics; increasing domestic recycling efforts; reducing harm from U.S. exports of electronic waste; and improving the safe handling of used electronics to developing countries.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with the EPA and its future leadership to minimize electronics waste, promote energy efficiency and protect our environment while encouraging and supporting technological innovation.”
