Trends

• Digital products continue to propel accessories sales.
• Flat-panel video displays are all the rage.
• DVRs have hit prime time.
• Camera phones explode in the wireless phone arena.
• Portable digital devices continue to permeate the consumer experience.
• Sales surge for portable storage such as flash media.

Digital devices are wooing consumers at a record pace, and as they draw in the crowds, so too do the accessories across a gamut of CE categories that make the user experience simpler, more efficient and, often, better-looking.

The steady rise in sales of accessories for video, audio, telephones, camcorders and other wireless accessories has kicked up a few notches during the last two years, a testament to the plethora of available devices and those necessary complements that better the user experience. This year, CEA projects factory sales will swell to $2 billion, from $1.8 billion in 2004.
