CEA APPLAUDS PASSAGE OF BROADBAND ACT
| Arlington, Virginia | 10/1/2008 |
The Broadband Data Improvement Act of 2008 (S.1492), which mandates improvement to broadband data collection by the federal government, passed the House and Senate and now proceeds to the White House for final enactment. The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today applauded passage of this key legislation as advancing the deployment of broadband by better identifying underserved areas in our nation and providing a roadmap for the development of initiatives to address deployment gaps.
The following statement can be attributed to Veronica O’Connell, CEA’s vice president, Congressional Affairs:
“Passage of the broadband mapping legislation brings us one step closer to ensuring that all Americans have access to high-speed Internet. It is clear that nationwide deployment and adoption of broadband is vital for future economic growth. We applaud Congress for its bipartisan support of this important legislation.”
