Top 10 "Must See" Events at CES
With 2,700 exhibitors covering more than 1.7 million net square feet of exhibit space, the 2007 International CES promises to be nothing short of amazing. Here are some of the hottest exhibits and events at this year's show, which you'll definitely want to check out.
1. International CES Anniversary Party (LVCC, Grand Lobby) The 2007 International CES marks its 40th anniversary this year. CES will celebrate in style with a 40th Anniversary Party at noon, Monday, January 8, on the ESPN/CEA Stage in the Grand Lobby. Join in the festivities as CES celebrates 40 years of cutting-edge technology and innovation. And of course, there will be plenty of commemorative gifts, as well as CES Anniversary cookies, which will be available throughout CES at the Concierge Center in Central Plaza.
2. The Sands Expo and Convention Center/The Venetian Check out the must-see events at the newest venue of the 2007 International CES. The Sands/Venetian is the new home to more than 200 high-performance audio and home theater exhibitors, the CES keynote addresses, more than 10 emerging technology-related TechZones, conference sessions and the Innovations 2007 Design and Engineering Showcase. The Sands/Venetian opens an hour earlier each day-at 8 a.m.-so be sure to jumpstart your day with a visit.
3. 2007 International CES Keynotes (Venetian, Palazzo Ballroom) CES keynote addresses will have a new home in The Venetian's Palazzo Ballroom. This new venue offers a state-of-the-art facility and accommodates more than double the capacity of the past keynote venue. Hear from a star-studded lineup of CE industry leaders as they share their experiences, insights and visions first-hand. This year's speakers include: Bill Gates, chairman, Microsoft Corp.; Ed Zander, chairman and CEO, Motorola Inc.; Robert Iger, president and CEO, The Walt Disney Co.; Michael Dell, chairman, Dell Inc., and Leslie Moonves, president and CEO, CBS Corp.
4. Industry Insider Series (Las Vegas Hilton Theater) The CES Industry Insider Series offer a dynamic keynote line-up, with a more personal approach. These one-hour sessions drill down to important CE issues quickly, thanks to the candid style of the insiders. The 2007 Industry Insider Series line-up includes Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, president and CEO, Nokia Corp.; John Chambers, president and CEO, Cisco Systems; and a Pipeline Power Panel with moderator Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA, and panelists Chase Carey, president and CEO, DirectTV; Charlie Ergen, founder, chairman and CEO, EchoStar Communications Corp.; Virginia Reusterholz, president, Verizon Telecom; and Glenn Britt, president and CEO, Time Warner Cable.
5. The Anytime-Anywhere TechArena (Sands/Venetian) This super TechZone features the latest in content-shifting technologies and gives attendees the chance to meet with the producers and manufacturers of the latest on-the-go products that allow consumers to be entertained anytime they want, anywhere they want. Also housed in this super Tech
Arena are the Download TechZone, Express Card TechZone, IPTV TechZone and the Podcasting TechZone.
6. CES Concierge Center (CES Central Plaza) Need a place at CES to catch your breath and recharge your batteries? The CES Concierge Center provides an onsite venue to sit back and relax-perhaps with a Beck's Beer or a light snack-and also comes equipped with a business center and a well-trained staff to answer any questions about the show or the Las Vegas area.
7. CNET's Next Big Thing SuperSession (LVCC, North Hall N257) What will be the category killers of tomorrow? CNET's Editor-at-Large Brian Cooley and a team of expert editors will share the big trends, reveal emerging categories and identify the must-have products for 2007. Scheduled for 3-4 p.m. on Monday, January 8, this standing-room only session is something you don't want to miss!
8. Last Gadget Standing (LVCC, North Hall N257) Join Robin Raskin and the advisors from Yahoo!Tech as they lead a whirlwind tour of the ten most memorable products at the show. Vote for the gadget you believe will survive the test of time. It's action-packed, fun-filled and the products represent the best new technology. Scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 10, this SuperSession is always popular.
9. CNET's Best of CES Awards (LVCC, South Hall Upper Lobby) On Monday, January 8, CNET will announce three finalists from each of the ten Best of CES categories, with the winners announced on Wednesday, January 10. Who will be the Best of CES for 2007? Come and find out.
10. The Great Audio Experience Featuring 3 Doors Down (LVCC, ESPN/CEA Stage) CEA's newest partner for the Great Audio Experience Campaign and America's favorite rock band, 3 Doors Down, will bring the Great Audio Experience to CES attendees with two live performances at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 9.
