High Resolution 1080p Video Coming to YouTube
A post on the YouTube blog states that the popular video sharing site plans to offer videos in 1080p resolution as early as next week. YouTube's current high definition viewing mode has a resolution limit of 720p.

Activision's 'Call of Duty' Garners Record Sales
The much-anticipated sequel to Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has set a sales record, according to the company, earning $550 million in its first five days. While the total number of copies sold was not released, Activision announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 million copies on its first day of release in the U.S. and U.K. alone.

Intel Reaches Legal Settlement with AMD
Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) have reached a settlement, with Intel agreeing to pay $1.25 billion to end years of legal wrangling between the world's two largest computer chip makers. The settlement does not put an end to an antitrust case filed last week by New York's attorney general.

HP to Acquire 3Com for $2.7 Billion
Computer maker HP has acquired computer networking company 3Com in a move to become better positioned to compete with Cisco in the computer networking market. HP agreed to pay $7.90 per share for 3Com, a 39 percent premium.

The non-profit Web Foundation and the creator of the World Wide Web have announced a set of new projects aimed at expanding Internet access to billions of people worldwide. The partnerships will focus on mobile accessibility and the creation of accessible content. The Web Foundation was founded by Berners-Lee in 2008.

TV Manufacturers Prepare to Launch IPTV Offerings
A number of big TV manufacturers say they are prepared to launch major holiday marketing pushes for TVs with IPTV capabilities. Manufacturers, including LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and others, say they are preparing their holiday IPTV offerings, which will compete against alternative methods of bringing the Internet into the living room -- such as IPTV-enabled DVRs, Blu-ray players and game consoles.

Microsoft to Revamp its MSN Portal
Microsoft is preparing to re-launch an updated version of its MSN Web portal sometime early next year, according to the company. A beta version of the new portal is available, giving users a sneak peek at the new features, such as integrated Facebook and Twitter feeds.
