Program Description
The portable digital media interface (PDMI) logo indicates that a product is compliant with CEA-2017, Common Inerconnection for Portable Media Players. This standard defines electrical and mechanical properties for a connector that will pass audio, video and associated metadata signals, and power between portable electronic devices and in-home and in-vehicle audio/video sysems. When consumers see the logo, they can be assured that the product supports the common connector, allowing them to play and charge their portable media devices in their vehicles and their homes.

- How is the PDMI connector different from USB?
While USB is convenient and ubiquitous connector for data exchange and limited power supply, the PDMI connector is designed to offer rich media and power connectivity for portable devices. It includes pins to support high current power, digital audio, analog video and audio in/out, accessories, etc., and provides a richer connectivity experience than USB or even micro-USB is able to offer.
- How is the PDMI connector different from connectors currently on the market for portable media devices?
The PDMI connector is based upon CEA-2017, Common Interconnection for Portable Media Players. CEA-2017 was developed by an ANSI-accredited standards development organization. This means that the development procedures ensured openness and balance. In addition, because it is an open industry standard, any company may implement it.

Participation Steps
- E-mail CEA's product mark administrator at productmarks@CE.org and specify what logo you are interested in obtaining.
- CEA's administrator will email a PDF version of the agreement with directions on how to fill it out and return it properly.
- Acquire the latest revision of CEA-2017 and rate products in accordance with the standard and the license terms.
- Pay the $1,000 administration fee to CEA per calendar year, or part thereof.
- If relevant, provide CEA an annual list of models bearing the logo.
