The legislation requires producers to finance the collection and recycling of covered electronic products (computer central processing units; cathode ray tubes and CRT-devices; keyboards, electronic mice and other electronic pointing devices; televisions; printers; computer monitors or similar video display devices with a screen that is greater than four inches in diameter; laptop or portable computers; and portable music players) that are generated in the City. The Mayor’s Office had objected to a provision in the legislation that would require manufacturers to meet minimum collection rates. It is unclear whether those objections have been addressed or whether the Council will vote to override a possible veto of the measure.
